Workshop on Strengthening the effectiveness and responsiveness of social policies

From 8 to 10 April 2025, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), in collaboration with Maurice Stratégie, held a three-day workshop as part of national efforts to strengthen the effectiveness and responsiveness of social policies.

Government officials, NGO representatives, and AFD delegates participated in sessions led by Mr Nicolas Studer and Dr Verena Tandrayen-Ragoobur, which focused on enhancing tools to identify vulnerable households and promoting fairer distribution of support.

Participants explored the many facets of vulnerability and discussed how deeper insights into socio-economic risks could lead to more targeted and impactful interventions. The final day was dedicated to strengthening the implementation of the current social protection framework.

The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration in building a more inclusive and efficient social policy landscape.
