Research, Employment & Labour, Economic Growth, Shortage, Sectors

This paper analyses labour shortages in key sectors of the Mauritian economy—tourism, manufacturing, construction, ICT, and healthcare—revealing nearly 8,000 immediate job openings, mostly requiring primary to diploma-level qualifications.

It provides insights into the post-COVID labour market and highlights the importance of addressing labour challenges for the short- and long-term benefit of the economy, with potential GDP losses estimated at up to 5.3%.
